Templates and Branding
Being able to read and execute from a template is not the most creative or flashy aspect of the design world but it is crucial in production art. Here you can see some real world examples of the kinds of templates I have worked with in the past as well as the print files produced from them. The template shown here was used to design the artwork printed on a specific style of box called a clam-shell. The examples are of an enclosed box, with a cutout in the front, and the lid to a gift box, also with a cutout. The examples also demonstrate the often complicated placement of branding. Because these files often depict as all as six edges of a box the placement of company and product logo's is repeated many times in different locations and orientations. All of this branding has to be consistent from product to product. The specifications for how to achieve this is contained in a file not unlike the design template.
